The Technical University of Budapest’s regional faculty was first founded in 1949, and this marks the beginning of the University of Pannonia’s existence. The faculty became independent in 1951 under the name Veszprém University of Chemical Engineering, and it changed its name to University of Veszprém in 1991. In 2006, it adopted the name University of Pannonia. The university has four faculties: the faculties of engineering, business and economics, and modern philology and social sciences, as well as the faculties of information technology. Both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes are available through each faculty. The Student Council is in charge of planning and managing all of the student organisations, groups, and activities that take place throughout the academic year. Veszprém University Days, an annual music festival that is enjoyed by both students and staff, is held at the university during the spring semester. Every year, more overseas students enrol at the university thanks to the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program. To boost the number of foreign students studying in Hungary, the Hungarian government developed this programme in 2013. In order to facilitate student exchange programmes, the university has formed relationships with higher education institutions all over the world.
