The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is a public institution of higher learning that is a non-profit organisation. The institution was established in 1968, along with the Autonomous University of Madrid, following the acceptance of educational reform. The University of Barcelona was given the prefix “independent” during the dictator F. Franco’s rule. The school’s administration protected their autonomy, as well as their own rules and teaching philosophies, by not allowing the government to meddle in their internal matters. Despite having only existed for a relatively short time, Universitat Autnoma de Barcelona has managed to climb to third place among Spanish universities and to be included in the top 200 universities in the world. One of the top universities is Barcelona’s Autonomous University. Within its doors, more than 31,000 students—including 10,000 foreign students—receive instruction concurrently. The academic team of the school is comprised of 2195 highly competent teachers. UAB offers a teacher and student exchange programme. The institution engages in active research activities and frequently collaborates on important international projects. Special consideration should be given to software development at the UAB computer centre for astrophysics and space exploration experiments. This university has a history of producing high-quality research in molecular biology and biomedicine. The identification of bacteria, which can be employed to successfully combat cancer cells, was one of the significant discoveries made here. The veterinary faculty is well-known and well regarded; it is rightfully ranked among the top thirty in its field.
