1. Research is the engine of Ghent University. The discoveries, innovations and achievements of our researchers are changing the world, influencing high-impact domains and driving global knowledge society worldwide. For the last decade, the university has been listed in the Shanghai Ranking top 100 world universities.
2. Our vision on learning and education refers to the credo Dare to Think. After all, Ghent University wants to educate those who stand with both feet in reality and dare to venture outside the box. Ghent University encourages this through multiperspectivism, the ability to perceive oneself through someone else’s eyes.
3. Open Access, free access to scholarly information, is a spearhead of the university library. That’s why many publications written by UGent researchers are freely available in the academic bibliography, as are many images in the image database.
4. Ghent University boasts a fully-equipped sports centre (“”GUSB””), with three large and two small halls for indoor activities, a 25-meter swimming pool, an instruction pool! Special attention is devoted to sports for disabled students. The university also offers individual supporting services and counselling for students who are actively involved in top-class sports.
5. It is estimated that 30 international students (to be divided over the different Flemish higher education institutions) will be able to benefit from a Master Mind scholarship to start their studies in the academic year 2022-2023. For Ghent University this means approximately 6 students.
6. The catalogue is freely accessible to everyone. The scholarly sources themselves are mostly restricted to the UGent network. Visitors can make use of the libraries to consult material.
