The Maria Curie-Skodowska University in Lublin is Poland’s biggest public university. We are a firmly established institution in the area, where we have acted as a cultural and opinion-forming force since 1944 and have significantly aided in the development of a knowledge-based economy. Our Alma Mater has produced about 260 000 graduates. The potential of UMCS in terms of science and research is expanding. 1. University’s campus landscape is a branch campus in Puawy. Degree programmes in technical chemistry and engineering are available on this site. These programmes were created by the university in collaboration with the Puawy Nitrogen Plant and the New Chemical Syntheses Institute.

3. Maria Curie Sklodowska, a French physicist of Polish descent and the discoverer of radium and polonium, is honoured by the naming of the university. She was the first person to win the Nobel Prize twice, the only woman to do so, and the only scientist to do it in two different fields of research.

8. A unique scholarship is provided by the Maria Curie-Skodowska University to help its impaired students. The scholarship is granted for a calendar year. Over the course of their graduate or undergraduate studies, a student is eligible to win the grant more than once.
