Maria Curie-Sklodowska University

1. University’s campus landscape is a branch campus in Puawy. Degree programmes in technical chemistry and engineering are available on this site. These programmes were created by the university in collaboration with the Puawy Nitrogen Plant and the New Chemical Syntheses Institute.
2. Overseeing academic and research partnerships between the university and scientists from around the world is the responsibility of the International Cooperation Centre. To make these interactions possible, the university has formed relationships with more than 200 foreign institutions of higher learning.
3. Maria Curie Sklodowska, a French physicist of Polish descent and the discoverer of radium and polonium, is honoured by the naming of the university. She was the first person to win the Nobel Prize twice, the only woman to do so, and the only scientist to do it in two different fields of research.
4. The Library is a global resource that houses classic book titles, magazines, the oldest written texts, and collections of maps, pictures, and music. Licensed databases and the UMCS Digital Library are used to provide electronic books and magazines.
5. The university’s library and information system is made up of the UMCS Main Library and 16 specialised libraries. It performs the functions of a public library by making its collections accessible to all Lublin citizens as well as to students and staff at its own and other institutions.
6. Additionally available to students is the Physical Culture Center, which features an Olympic-caliber swimming pool. The AZS UMCS University Club offers classes in more than 30 sports for students to participate in.
7. Additionally, AZS UMCS includes eight advanced divisions, and the Club has more than 1,300 members. Basketball players from Pszczóka Polski Cukier AZS UMCS Lublin have been competing well in Poland’s Energa Basket Women’s League for many years.
8. A unique scholarship is provided by the Maria Curie-Skodowska University to help its impaired students. The scholarship is granted for a calendar year. Over the course of their graduate or undergraduate studies, a student is eligible to win the grant more than once.
