The University of Gdask is a vibrantly growing institution of higher learning that honours tradition while also being dedicated to the future. In addition to a huge selection of academic courses, we also offer a huge selection of courses leading to sought-after professional credentials. One of the largest university complexes in northern Poland, the University’s Baltic Campus houses a growing number of students who pursue their education in cutting-edge facilities. The University of Gdask (UG) was formally established in 1970 as a result of the union of the Higher Economics School in Sopot and the Higher Pedagogical School in Gdask. It eventually expanded to include the Higher Teacher Training School and is currently the biggest educational facility in Pomerania. There are 11 faculties at UG, and they are well-known in Poland for their research in the fields of chemistry, biology, economic sciences, law, psychology, and education. Additionally, it is the head of a significant centre for the study of the Kashubian language, a Pomeranian dialect that is a member of the Lechitic subgroup. From Gdask to the Hel Penisula, UG’s structures and scientific research facilities encircle a significant portion of the Polish coast. The majority of its academic institutions are found in the Trójmiasto metropolitan districts, which include Gdask, Gdynia, and Sopot. The Gdask Oliwa Campus is home to the vast majority of the faculty and staff. The Hel Maritime Station of the Institute of Oceanography, the Bird Migration Research Station, and the Biology Station are three of the university’s marine facilities that have become well-known outside. The Hel Marine Station, which is renowned for its work restoring endangered species like the harbour porpoise and the grey seal, conducts studies on the preservation of life in the Baltic Sea. The University of Gdańsk has established links with some 120 university-level institutions across Europe and around the world. Donald Tusk, the current president of the European Council and a former prime minister of Poland, is one notable graduate.
