3. There has been a significant increase of foreign students from more than 80 countries due to the internationalization strategy of the University of Algarve. Of its 8,000-student population, 20% are foreign students, of which nearly half are at the University under bilateral agreements and cooperation programmes, mainly Erasmus and Erasmus Mundus.
