Founded in 1499, the University of Valencia is a public university. Valencia, Spain, and the surrounding metropolitan area are home to the university’s three campuses: Blasco Ibáez, Burjassot-Paterna, and Tarongers. A coastal city called Valencia is around 220 miles east of Madrid. More than 58,000 kids attended the institution in a recent year. Both domestic and foreign students pay the same tuition, and some students can live in residence halls that are owned by or connected to the university. The university provides courses in engineering, health sciences, humanities, education, social, economic, and legal sciences, as well as basic and experimental sciences. At the undergraduate level, there are a number of foreign dual degree programmes available where students spend time studying at a partner university abroad. Although Spanish is the major language of instruction, certain bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes also provide instruction in part or entirely in English. Programs in economics and international business management are among the English-taught master’s courses. The institution also has Catalan speakers on staff. The academic year at the university is divided into semesters. The University of Valencia Science Park is home to about 70 businesses that primarily work in the fields of biotechnology or information and communication technologies, along with research institutes. The Institute of Materials Science, the Institute of Molecular Science, and the Image Processing Laboratory are among the research institutes of the science park. The century-old Astronomical Observatory, which has three telescopes and two all-sky cameras, is another university research centre.
