Established in 1911, the University of Western Australia is a research institution. UWA is ranked as Australia’s sixth-oldest university. The university is regarded as one of Australia’s largest landowners. In order to start medical courses with a distinct curriculum, it also partnered with African doctors who work in Australia. The university’s campus is spread across 160 acres of land. In addition to its richness of athletic, cultural, alumni, and social groups, it also has vast art collections and theatre facilities. On the campus of the university, there is housing for the students. The campus also includes six major libraries, including the Reid Library, widely regarded as Australia’s largest library. Research papers and books are abundant in the libraries. The university provides doctoral-level programmes in addition to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degree programmes. Additionally, it offers additional specialist courses to the programmes’ curricula. The university’s academic organisation consists of a variety of courses that are separated into six faculties, each of which is further subdivided into numerous departments and schools. Students have a lot of options to choose from based on their areas of interest thanks to the range of disciplines. The institution also has numerous research centres and institutes. The Oceans Institute, the Centre for Energy & Minerals, and the Centre for Software Practice are a few of the well-known research organisations. Fiona Wood, the 2005 Australian of the Year, Rod Eddington, Stephen Smith, a former federal minister for the Labor Party, Cheryl Praeger, the 2009 Scientist of the Year, and Tim Minchin are among the famous alumni of UWA (Australian comedian).
